Troubleshooting Common Technical Issues (Xbox, PlayStation)

If you are experiencing crashes, freezes, or performance issues with the game, please follow these standard troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue.

1. System Software Updates

An outdated console operating system can cause conflicts with newer game patches. Ensure your console is running the latest software version.

Update PlayStation (PS4 / PS5):

  • Go to Settings from the home screen.

  • Navigate to System > System Software > System Software Update and Settings.

  • Select Update System Software. If an update is available, download and install it.

Update Xbox (Xbox One / Series X|S):

  • Press the Xbox button on your controller to open the guide.

  • Select Profile & system > Settings > System.

  • Select Updates. If you see Console update available, select it to begin the installation.

2. Check for Game Updates

Even if your console is up to date, the game itself might have a pending patch that fixes your specific bug.

Check Game Updates on PlayStation:

  • Highlight the game icon on your home screen or Game Library.

  • Press the Options button on your controller.

  • Select Check for Update.

Check Game Updates on Xbox:

  • Press the Xbox button to open the guide and select My games & apps > See all.

  • Scroll down to Manage on the left menu, then select Updates.

  • If the game is listed, select it to update.

3. Reinstall the Game

Corrupted data during installation or a previous patch can cause ongoing stability issues. A clean reinstallation ensures all files are intact.

Reinstall on PlayStation

  • Highlight the game icon on your home screen.

  • Press the Options button and select Delete.

  • Go to your Game Library, find the game under Your Collection, and select Download.

Reinstall on Xbox

  • Press the Xbox button and select My games & apps > See all.

  • Highlight the game, press the Menu button (three horizontal lines) on your controller, and select Uninstall > Uninstall all.

  • Go to Full library > Owned games, select the game, and choose Install all.

4. Inspect for Overheating

Consoles will automatically shut down or crash to the dashboard if they exceed safe operating temperatures.

  • Ensure there are at least 4–6 inches of open space on all sides of the console. Do not place it in a closed cabinet.

  • Place the console on a flat, hard surface (avoid carpets, rugs, or putting it directly on top of other electronic devices).

  • Visually check the exhaust vents. If you see dust buildup, power down the console completely, unplug it, and use a can of compressed air to clear the debris.
