Clear Shader Cache Workaround (PC)
Please try the following workaround in the given order:
1. Clear GPU Shader Cache
Over time, compiled shader files can become corrupted, leading to micro-stutters, low performance, or startup crashes.
AMD Users: Navigate to C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\AMD\ and delete the cache files inside.
NVIDIA Users: Open the Run dialog (Win + R), type %localappdata%\NVIDIA\DXCache, and delete the files inside. Repeat this process for the folder located at %localappdata%\NVIDIA\GLCache.
2. Delete Local Settings Files
This resets your local configuration files to resolve potential profile data conflicts.
Navigate to: C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\Saber\Space Marine 2 and delete the contents of this folder.
3. Verify the Integrity of Game Files
This scans your local installation folder to detect and repair missing or corrupt files.
Steam:
Open your Steam Library.
Right-click on Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 and select Properties.
Go to the Installed Files tab.
Click the Verify integrity of game files button and allow the process to complete.
Epic Games:
Find the game in your Epic Games Library.
Click the three dots on the right side of the game line.
Select Manage.
Click the Verify button.
Wait for validation to complete.
4. Launch the Game and Allow Shader Optimization
Once Steam finishes verifying your files, launch the game. Because your configuration files and shader caches were removed, your graphic settings will automatically reset to default.
Upon reaching the loading screens, the game will automatically spend up to 5 minutes optimizing and preparing fresh visual shaders. Do not close the game or force-quit during this window, even if the progress bar appears to temporarily stall.
