Basic Troubleshooting Steps (PC)
Please try these basic troubleshooting steps to resolve performance drops, stability issues, or crashes on PC. We recommend trying them in the order listed below.
1. Restart Your PC
A fresh Windows reboot clears system memory (RAM), flushes temporary caches, and terminates any hung background processes that might be locking critical game files.
2. Update Graphics Drivers to the Latest Version
Ensure your GPU drivers (NVIDIA or AMD) are completely up to date. Graphics manufacturers regularly release driver updates containing crucial compatibility updates and performance optimizations for Space Marine 2.
3. Install Pending Windows Updates
Outdated Windows builds can lack essential system framework updates required by modern game engines.
Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for outstanding updates.
4. Run the Game as an Administrator
This ensures the game client has full system permissions to read and write local files, preventing Windows User Account Control (UAC) from mistakenly blocking core operations.
Right-click the Space Marine 2 executable file (or its desktop shortcut).
Select Properties and open the Compatibility tab.
Check the box for Run this program as an administrator, click Apply, and then OK.
5. Disable Third-Party Background Software
Background software overlays and system utilities can conflict with the game's execution. Close unnecessary apps before booting the game.
Close overlays, RGB software (Corsair iCUE, Razer Synapse), and third-party antivirus utilities.
6. Close Applications Using the Microphone or Audio/Performance Boosters
Certain applications utilizing spatial audio features, voice communication overlays, or automated performance-boosting scripts can interfere with the game’s audio processing pipeline or asset-streaming mechanics. Fully close software like Discord overlays, specialized audio suites, and third-party tuning apps in the Windows System Tray.
7. Disconnect Non-Essential USB Devices & Controllers
Unplug extra peripherals (VR headsets, secondary flight sticks, steering wheels, external drives) before launching the game. Excessive device polling from conflicting USB drivers can occasionally cause stability issues or input stuttering.
8. Disconnect All Controllers Before Starting the Game
If you are experiencing a crash immediately upon launching, disconnect your gamepad or controller entirely. Start the game using your mouse and keyboard, and once you reach the main menu, reconnect your controller.
9. Use Only One Primary Monitor
Multi-monitor setups can sometimes confuse resolution detection or screen-space mapping. Temporarily disconnect secondary displays or press Win + P and select PC screen only to isolate your main gaming monitor.
10. Disable the Integrated GPU (iGPU)
Ensure Windows forces the game to run on your high-performance dedicated graphics card rather than your processor's weaker integrated graphics.
Open the Windows Device Manager.
Expand Display adapters.
Right-click your integrated graphics option (e.g., Intel HD Graphics or AMD Radeon Graphics) and select Disable device. (Do not disable your primary NVIDIA or AMD dedicated GPU).
11. Use the AMD Cleanup Utility for a Fresh Driver Reinstall
If driver data is corrupted, a basic update might not fix it.
Download the official AMD Cleanup Utility from AMD's website.
Run the utility to completely delete old driver remnants, registry keys, and configurations from your system.
Restart your PC and perform a completely fresh installation of the latest AMD driver.
12. Set a Higher Process Priority in Task Manager
Force Windows to allocate maximum CPU processing resources directly to the game.
Launch the game, then press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open the Task Manager.
Go to the Details tab.
Right-click the Space Marine 2 executable, hover over Set priority, and change it to High.
13. Perform a Clean Game Reinstallation
If local game data becomes deeply corrupted, a fresh installation ensures a clean slate. Uninstall the game via Steam/Epic Games, manually delete any leftover files in your directory, and reinstall it.
